Welcome to our Spring 2019 Newsletter.
As we near the end of the first quarter of 2019 we find ourselves busy with a range of outplacement projects for all levels across the UK. Our business continues to grow and we are working with a number of new sponsor organisations providing both outplacement and executive coaching services. The feedback from these new sponsors is that they want to work with asa as we offer a personalised service to the individual client and the organisation. Our clients are special to us and their success is paramount, they are not treated as just a number in a process!
Our new initiative of unlimited support in our 1:1 outplacement programmes is enclosed within this newsletter has been well received and complements our comprehensive support programmes.
We also highlight our on line Information, Research and Job Search site MyWorkSearch an award winning platform from one of our partners, Aptem.
Importantly, we also highlight our new Well-Being programme that has been designed by one of our associates and Well-Being expert, Jayne Carrington.
Finally, we highlight the fact that we are seeing more of our individual clients opting for Self-Employment as their preferred career option.
New – Unlimited Support Outplacement
We offer a range of outplacement programmes from workshop group based to 1:1 individual support for junior staff to Director level. The individual programmes are flexible and can be tailored to meet the precise requirements of the client.
At the end of each programme we ask clients for their feedback and what they valued most about their support. Our research has found that clients really value the bespoke sessions with their career coaches above all else. Whilst this is not a huge surprise to us we have decided to expand this support.
We appreciate that all of our clients have different needs and are job searching in different sectors. Clearly this means that some of our clients may need more support than others. To that end we have introduced Unlimited 1:1 Support for all of our clients which means that they continue to receive support from their career coach by telephone and e-mail until they no longer require it or are settled in a new role. The feedback on this approach has already been very well received by our sponsors and individual clients.

Our new Well-Being Programme
Today’s corporate workforce is under enormous pressure from globalisation, regulation, new
technology and demographic change. Meanwhile, there is growing recognition of the impact
of work and its role in worsening or improving health.
A recent survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit highlighted the following findings;
1. Employers and workers value health and wellbeing programmes
2. Managers need better training on how to discuss physical and mental health
with their employees.
3. Human health and wellbeing have many dimensions, and organisations should
treat them holistically.
Our Well-Being expert, Jayne Carrington, has developed a new workshop based programme to focus on Well-Being. This workshop explores resilience and well-being from a personal perspective, enabling employees to take ownership of their own future. It also looks at how we all are part of the challenge to build organisational well-being for sustainable workplace engagement and organisational resilience not simply to cope with the past, but to strengthen future performance.

Increase in the Number of Our Outplacement Clients Opting for Self-Employment
Self-employment in the UK is at its highest level since records began almost 40 years ago, according to a report by the Office for National Statistics, . There are 4.6 million people working for themselves, with the proportion of the total workforce self-employed at 15% compared with 13% in 2008, and 8.7% in 1975.
At asa we are finding that around 20% of all of our individual clients receiving outplacement support with us wish to explore self-employment with around 10% actually opting for self- employment as their future career direction.
We offer support to those clients wishing to pursue the option of Self-Employment both on a 1:1 basis or a group workshop.
